10 Interior Decorating Trends That Will be Hot in 2018

Are you considering a home improvement project in the New Year? Here are ten interior trends that will be hot in 2018!

Lavender: this color has been called the “Millennial Pink” but as the year has progressed, the trend has morphed into lavender and lilac hues, used for accents in interior decorating. Lavender is a color we will be seeing a lot of in 2018.

Woven Accents: expect to see more woven baskets and other artisan accents in 2018!

Brass is Back! The stainless trend is making room for it’s substitute in golden brass tones and we expect this trend to be huge in 2018.

Velvet Furnishings: the velvet trend may not be here to stay, but currently it is a hot option for interior furnishings, such as a velvet sofa or lounge chair.

Circle Patterns: according to the designer Genevieve Gorder, from Trading Spaces and Air Wick Seasonal Scents spokesperson, hard geometrics are going to be big and was quoted as saying that circles are the new triangle.

Wallpaper Makes a Comeback: we are seeing wallpaper in small boutiques but it is expected to be a rising trend with major players such as HomeGoods and Target, where we will see geode and agate wallpapers in mass markets.

Natural Elements: incorporating natural elements that reflect the surrounding landscape has been a rising trend in the last few years, and we expect it to continue in the New Year. For example, choosing natural elements, and taking advantage of a nearby view will create a beautiful space that stands the test of time.

Larger Tile Sizes: we’ve seen a lot of the subway tile in new homes and renovation projects but there has been a shift in the tile trend towards larger formats and even slab sized porcelain sheets. It is a change in the look and feel but also more functional with less grout to maintain.

Artisan Fixtures: small businesses are partnering up with local artisans to create and manufacture high-end LED lighting fixtures.

Tone on Tone: a new trend is tone on tone colors in the home, such as trim work in the same color as the walls. If you like this look, consider painting a piece of furniture the same color to give it an extra pop.
