Arizona’s Unique Dome Home Has a Famous History

The Dome at Casa Blanca, located in Paradise Valley, Arizona has a famous history dating back for decades. Now on the market for $1,175,000 you could be the next one to host star-studded parties under the Valley of the Sun evening skies.
The onion-shaped dome is reminiscent of Moorish architecture and icon in community. The home was built in the 1930s for film maker, David Kellogg and designed by architect Robert Evans who had the vision for the hacienda at the base of Camelback Mountain. Sitting on 63-acres, the adobe brick hacienda features Mexican tiles and unique carved woodwork. Kellogg only owned the home for eight years, when it was then sold to George Borg. It was Borg who named the property “Casa Blanca” and added the guest casitas to accommodate corporate clients, family and friends.

After it was sold by Borg, a developer turned Casa Blanca into a luxury vacation spot and opened Sultan’s Table, an upscale restaurant. It was then that the property began to host Hollywood celebrities, such as Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Charlie Chaplin and Betty Grable. The luxury resort sold again in the 1960s and at that time, it was renovated into a guard-gated community with private condominiums. The current owner has owned the property since 2003 and the dome continues to be the focal point of the property and the town of Paradise Valley, Arizona.

“There is nothing else like the Dome,” says listing agent Grant Almquist, of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty. “Not only is it a magnificently designed historic treasure, there are countless stories about all the legendary celebrities who’ve visited.”
